JOE HENRY UNVEILS “3'40"”, THE NEW VIDEO FOR THE SONG “BLOOM” TODAY - THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO WATER OUT NOVEMBER 15 VIA earMUSIC

Joe Henry unveils today his new video “3’40””, directed by Jacob Blickenstaff and created to accompany the song “Bloom”—the first offering from his new album The Gospel According To Water.

“I swore off—and some time ago—the notion of music videos as they came to be known,” says Henry. “It always being a perilous proposition to wed images for promotional purposes to music—the former meaning to assign easy and unified experience to consumers; while music itself finding its resonance and longevity to its ability to be shape-shifting and ever evolving.

But I find I have no issue standing with and before you as you listen. And in acknowledgement of Warhol’s infamous “screen tests,” I offer now my near-unflinching gaze: in living color, and almost life-like.

It’s my way of owning this work in all its wiry and unveiled splendor;

with love and squalor.”

(Me again).

The Gospel According To Water will be released on November 15 via earMUSIC, pre-order https://joehenry.lnk.to/TheGospelAccordingToWater

In celebration of the new album, Henry will play Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles on November 15 with Jay Bellerose, Dave Piltch, Patrick Warren, Levon Henry, and JT Nero & Allison Russell (Birds of Chicago).

He will also appear at Big Ears Festival, March 26-29 in Knoxville, TN with Joe Henry’s 115th Dream all star line up: Jason Moran and Marc Ribot with Jay Bellerose, Dave Piltch and Levon Henry—a rare opportunity to see these collaborators together on one stage.

In a career spanning more than 30 years, three-time Grammy winner Joe Henry has left an indelible and unique imprint on American popular music. Known for his exploration of the human experience, Henry is a hyper-literate storyteller, by turns dark, devastating and hopeful.

His artist collaborations cross a variety of genres including T Bone Burnett, Ornette Coleman, and Billy Bragg with whom he was nominated for “Duo/Group of the Year” by the Americana Music Association for their collaborative album Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad.

A three-time-Grammy winning producer, Henry has made albums for Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens and Solomon Burke and more, and scored films including Jesus’ Son, Knocked Up and Motherhood. In 2013, Algonquin Press published, Furious Cool: Richard Pryor and the World that Made Him, a book co-written by Joe and his brother Dave Henry.
