Deep Purple8. October 2014

After achieving six top-10 positions in Europe in August and September with Status Quo’s live show "The Frantic Four's Final Fling" (including two #1s), earMUSIC is pleased to announce that “Celebrating Jon Lord”, the majestic tribute to Deep Purple’s founding member, filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, has entered the Music Video charts (Blu-Ray and DVD) at number one in four countries: Germany, Austria, Sweden and UK, Jon Lord’s home country, as well as #2 in Switzerland, #3 in France, #4 in Holland, and #8 in Belgium.

“Celebrating Jon Lord” has been highly acclaimed and praised by media and fans worldwide as a “deep bow down to a great musician” (Classic Rock Germany) and “a masterfully constructed set with a captivating climax” (Rocktribune Belgium), it is the “DVD of the month” in Rock Hard (Germany), Eclipsed (Germany), Rock n Folk (France) and Sticks (Germany), and has been critically acclaimed throughout the rest of Europe.

Since its first release in 2009, earMUSIC has quickly achieved a leading position amongst the European record labels, with an impressive list of sales awards and chart positions, releasing new studio albums by rock legends such as Deep Purple (their recent “NOW What?!” is #1 and Gold in Germany, and essentially top 5 or 10 everywhere in the world), Foreigner, Chickenfoot, Status Quo, Marillion and many others.

The media and audience response to “Celebrating Jon Lord” on earMUSIC (the international rock label part of the Edel AG Group) is another step in consolidating them as one of the leading companies in the European music video market.

Over 40 titles produced and released by earMUSIC have charted in the Music Video Top-10 during the last 12 months: Saga (#1 in Germany), Status Quo (a constant presence in the Music DVD Charts with each release), Tarja (#2 in Germany and #1 in Finland), Stratovarius (#1 in Finland), Gamma Ray to Bush, just to mention a few.

Released as 1CD – The Composer, 2CD – The Rock Legend, 2DVD, Blu-ray, Box Set and Download on September 26th, 2014 on earMUSIC, “Celebrating Jon Lord” managed to capture the night’s emotions and performances at the Royal Albert Hall in a stunning way.
Divided in two parts – the first focused on the classical music compositions, so dear to Jon Lord, and the second featuring a crescendo of emotions going through some of his highlights as a rock musician – the concert gave fans a chance to relive Jon Lord's remarkable and extensive musical career, remembering music from Paice, Ashton Lord, Deep Purple, his later classical compositions and everything in between – all in aid for the charity organization The Sunflower Jam.
The 83-piece Orion Orchestra performed, conducted by Paul Mann and accompanied by bands and artists such as Deep Purple, Paul Weller, Glenn Hughes, Bruce Dickinson, Rick Wakeman and many, many more.

A live video taken from the much acclaimed “Celebrating Jon Lord” is now available for streaming: “Uncommon Man” (one of the two songs from the recent Deep Purple album NOW What?! dedicated to Jon Lord, as performed live during the magic “Celebrating Jon Lord” night).
